Derelict Care Home
This is the former Belmont Care Home in Eastbourne which had 91 beds, of which only 44 were occupied when it closed in 2007, The integrated Lighthouse Nursery closed as well at the same time.
It was located in a former motel which was built nearly 50 years ago. A very mundane looking care home to start with but it then threw a few surprises at us once we had all entered it.
Photos eight, nine and ten show two moss covered floors which looked like very fine grass, photo eleven is the dark adjacent corridor and the floor is covered in some sort of gooey slime, photo twelve is a young stalagmite. 3″ high by 6″ wide approx.
But when I saw the postcard and what was written on it and then the photos next to it I stopped in my tracks, I was looking at a resident of this care home and her family, I was moved. Look for the scary clown hidden in one photo! Visited with my Son in Law, Granddaughter and my Grandson.
