Abandoned Pit Stop
The Plumpton Pit Stop was one of those oldie worldie quaint filling stations of yesteryear, It closed down in 2001 and is still in a remarkably good condition. Be careful though as it is located on a fast blind bend, If driving park up in the layby a short way up the Lane. Located on the Offham to Ditchling Road.
Plumpton Forecourt History
A little bit of history , The Pit Stop was owned by Lawrence Bridgman who died in 2006. With no family to look after it this cute little building and petrol forecourt has fallen into disrepair. It’s location at the south end of Plumpton Lane means it is the first thing visitors see when visiting Plumpton so it is not a good advert for our lovely village. Over the years it has been vandalised and the forecourt is now an eyesore for everyone passing by.
